My fishing equipment is probally Older then the devs. My grandchildren are using my fishing equipment now and still none needed fix to use, just changed line once a year is all I ever needed to do.
Needing 30 pound test line to bring in 5-10 p[ond fish is wrong and having wear damage to equipment after a few days of use is wrong. Never have I had to change line, fix rods and reels because of use. The only equipment I had EVER lost was my first fiberglass pole which was broken by a large turtle that I hooked and tried to bring it in to shore. I didn't have the money to buy high cost equipment when I was growing up. I used a old fiverglass 6' pole for trout bass cats and what ever it hooked up with. My poles, reels and line are not matched up like in the game tells you they should be.
I have caught many northerns, muskie, cats and carp with my set up. test line for fishing in the river by my house.
